Hi guys. It was great to see some of you over the weekend, and it's been great hearing the stories and watching some of the pictures you all took. Kans was a huge success this year and as Mr. Hans said on his last day in class: "This year was the best ever". But can it be even better? With your help, this project (in whatever capacity) and others like it can be improved.
Please take the time to reply to this post and answer the following questions honestly, but be polite :-)

1. What I loved most about the kans project is when we got to take the people who came from Holland to the places here on St.Maarten.

3. No, i was thinking they would just come here stay by someones house and go to school only I wasn't thinking that everyone would be going out with them and having a lot of fun.

3. No, not at all..i expected these students to speak fluent dutch and they didn't, they tried their best and they did it very well!!
4. well, there wouldnt be a next time, but maybe hang out with them more and show them around the island!

1. I like the fact that we made new life long friendships with people who are half way around the world. At first everyone was like, "I wonder how they are like?" or "I think they way different than us," but at the end every put differences aside and enjoyed each others company.
ReplyDelete2. My least favorite part were the goodbyes; I got attached to some people.
3. I deffinitely did not expect everyone to be this friendly, but I was wrong. Many people surprised me with there friendlyness and generousity.
4. I would like the time which they stay here, and the time which the students go up there to be extended.
5. The students staying by host families should stay the same.
6. I think I was prepared enough for this project.
7. Before this I didn't really correspond with my penpal that much, but now i think me and my penpal are closer than ever. =)
8. I will DEFFINATELY keep in contact with my correspondant. We're even planing for her to come down to stay with me next year for vacation!
9. I think they should allow more people to get an oppertunity to go on the trip.
10. I think this project was the best project I got to experiance in my life! I would love to do again.

3) Well, not really. I was hoping that we would get to interract more individually. But some students were pretty clingy to the dutch students, not sharing them with others.

7) In the past month I haven't talked to my penpal. I was the one to send the last email on gmail, and we dont get to talk online. But earlier in the year we sent each other mail atleast once a week.
8) Yes, I would like to keep in touvh with Antine.
9) I would suggest that we add more out-of-school activities that all the children can attend, not only the housing people, dutch students, and kids who visited Holland earlier in the month.
10) All in all, Kans Project '09 was a huge success. You all should continue to do this project, because it is really a once in a life time experience.
1. I really liked being able to see how people act and speak when they are not from here in St. Maarten.
ReplyDelete2. Being forced to write emails about topics that I am not interested in such as when we had to write about the Maypole.
3.Honestly, not really. I expected everyone to play a bigger part in the project. Like, people never got emails from their corrrespondants, and some just didn't want to take the time to talk to someone who is different from them.
4.To have more people travelling and staying longer.
5.The chance to leave the island and coming to another place.

7.Yes,I did but drawing near to the arrival, she got really busy in school and didn't have time to talk daily like we used to.

1. I really like the exchange of knowledge between the two places. The best part was,that with the the differences between us;there are also similarities.

1)Well it was fun learning about things that the dutch people do in their school.

3)I did not expect some things that we did. Example: Playing new dutch games like puting your face in the water and getting out the gummy worms, and grading the posters the dutch people made.
4)The whole form 2 kids could have gone to the movies with the dutch kids.

7)Not that much. Sometimes I comment late and then she also does comment late at times, but we still send each other messages.
8)If I am not busy and if I remember I have a g-mail then I will still communicate.
9)Let the whole form 2 from Holland come to St.Maarten so in that way everyone have their own penpal to talk to, and especially see each other face to face.
10)Yes, it was fun playing with sean basketball during Gym.
1) The best part that I find about the KANS project was that the dutch students came and visited our island ans stayed with some of us. It was a good experience.

1. I found it is was most interesting when we learnt about what holland was like. For example, Games, sports, street dancing, old songs and the folk dances.

My least favorite part was that in g-mail,

It was a little how I expected, but I didn't
expect them to show up with such fun games,
and the students worked quite hard to edit

I wouldn't mind having them for a little

I would keep everything the way it is, I
don't think we need to change anything.

Yes.

No. I received only 1 e-mail from my penpal

I shall try my best to continue.

We can add 2 or 3 more sports to the program

I like the fact we got to meet the children from holland..my least favorite part though is when they had to go...it wasn't what i expected becuase i expected them to be more mean and not as comfortable around us but they were and i was happy for that...i would've liked to sign up and go to halland to meet all the other kids...i would like to keep the fact of them visitng us in return...i would hope i was at least, it turned out different that i expected..yes i did have good communication with my penpal, we talk like crazy! :D...well we sort of lost communication after the holland student came down, i guess we though that was the end of it...i would suggest that they get more students to come down and we coulm dhave live video chats with the classes...i would like ot say it was prety cool and im sort of sad that it might be the last kans project and the next 2nd form might not experience it and next time we have a student exhcange programme i won''t let it pass me by :P

Nee ik dacht dat het saai zou zijn maar het was echt veeeel leuker dan ik verwacht had.

ReplyDelete1.)what i loved most was the last day of kans when the holand grouip aws here..and we were dancing and looking at powerpoints of us and son ...that aws fun!!
2.)the least fav of mine was the first day when they came it was kinda boring cause none of the kids were in oiur class

1.) I think the best thing about the kans project is when Walter and Sean came with us to the movies. It was lot of fun. We actually went twice.

4.) I would have liked to go to Holland. I also would have liked to go jet-skiing with them when they went with Melissa.

2. What was your least favorite part? I liked everything, but it wouldv'e been even MORE fun if the exchange was longer than just a week.

My least favourite part of this trip was when the students from RSG had to leave to go back to holland.

i think if there was a next time, i would actually apply for the oppurtunity to go holland.

The part i would definately keep the same would be the part when the RSG students came down to St.Maarten.

Well in the beginning it was frequent but as we got later down in the year we hardly talked.

I hope so.

I would suggest that if there was a next time we would actually have more activities planned for both the counterparts and our whole second form outside of school.

I would like to say that the KANS project was great and i find that we should do something like this soon, because it was a great success.
