We are heading out to Corpus tomorrow, but as we depart to our seperate destinations thereafter, we would like to hear from YOU. We would love to know your opinion about the workshops etc and the KANS project in general. So please, SXM kiddos and RSG'ers please take the time to react to this blog post by answering the following questions:

-Mr. T

1. What did you like most of the KANS project?
2. What was your least favorite part?
3. Was it what you expected? if not, how not?
4. What would you have liked to do differently next time?
5. What would you want to definitely keep the same?
6. Were you well prepared for this exchange?
7. Did you have good communication with your penpal before the trip?
8. Will you continue to have communication with your penpal after?
9. What would you suggest we add to this program if we ever do this again?
10. Is there anything else you would like to say ?

Thanks so much for your cooperation

  1. For the first time, being first! :D (No comment Lisa (A))

So yes, time to answer some questions.

    1. I liked meeting new people who were really friendly and helped me improve my Dutch. I liked a lot more of this project, but that is one of the top 5.
    2. I really can't think of anything that I didn't like because this trip was completely fun and laughs.
    3. No, it was not how I expected it to be because it was much more (in a good way). I expected some students to be a little mean to us and the language to be quite a big issue and also I didn't know what to expect at the host families. It was definitely a lot more fun than I expected.
    4. I would want to stay longer! One week wasn't enough because you got to know some people a bit and then we just have to leave!
    5. I would definitely want to keep the subjects we teach for the workshops the same.
    6. I think that I was really well prepared because I had almost everything already thought out and planned from before because I was so excited, I couldn't wait to begin everything.
    7. I think that I had OK communication with my penpal before. We sent around 6 or 7 emails back and fortch (each of us) but it could have probably been more, because sometimes we took a little long to reply, but she was really nice when I met her here and I definitely want to keep the communication up.
    8. I really want to and I think we will.
    9. I think you should add maybe a few more students or a longer time.
    10. I would like to say Thank you again to everyone for everything they did, small or big. I will REALLY miss you, the school, the teachers, Holland itself, and all the laughs and fun I had. THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN! <3

    Xoxo,

  2. Don't feel TOO good Ekta you lucky I chose sleep over the 'PC' yesterday.

    ANYWAYS...

    1. I liked the fact that the KANS project included a big culture exchange. I think I probably lived the life of a tipical Dutch person for a week, and it has quite some differences compared to what I'm use to. Also, I LOVE the fact that we made alot of new friendships half way around the world.

    2. Least favorite...hmmm *think think*
I think my least favorite part was leaving. I wanted to pack everyone in my koffer!

    3. It was NOT what I expected. I though that many people would be mean to us, and I NEVER thought that I was going to created the 'Red Sea' (by crying) in Holland. I originally planned a bucket full, but boy was I wrong...

    4. I would like more people to have the oppertunity to experiance what we experianced, and i have to agree with Ekta, it wouldn't hurt to add on one extra month..(Joke!) At least a week.

    5. I deffinitely don't want the friendly environment to change.

6.I think i was well equiped for this trip. The only thing that I regret not bringing is mittens. My hands were practically numb 75% of this trip. Especially when riding bike.

    7. Umm... not really.

    8. Heck yes! She's coming by my house next year. :D

    9. I think we should add more workshops, and deffinitely take more people.

    10. Thanks for the teachers who selected me. This trip was a life changing experiance, yet really educational. And I would like to encourage the other students who may have the oppertunity to do something like this in the future to do what they have to do in order to participate, in the trip instead of complaining when it's too late.
To all new frinds made I'll miss you guys and I can't wait for the next oppertunity I get to come back to Holland.

    With lots of love,

    -Lisa

  3. Well am of course not the first but at least I can spell typical... no names. And... experiance...? Ok ok I'm done xD

1.The thing I liked most about the KANS project is that all of us got to experience the difference between Holland's culture and that of St. Maarten. Thanks to this project we all have a better understanding of how things happen in other parts of the world.
    2. I really didn't packing and worrying all the time that I'd forget something (e.g. passport!)
    3. We all got along more than I expected, I didn't exactly expect problems. But we all got so close in so little time.
    4. I think we really did have too little time. We got only 50 min for each workshop for each class. I think we could've taught them A LOT more.
5.I would like for the workshops to remain about the arts and sports.
    6. I think I was quite well prepared. Sure there were some uhm complications (=P) but I had enough clothes! xD
7.Before the trip my correspondent and I sent some mails. Then I didn't get any response for quite some time untill we left for Holland.
    8. Yes, I spoke to my correspondent a lot in Oud Beijerland and now she has my hotmail too.
    9. Play music! please!
    10. Thanks so much to all the families we stayed by. Thanks to the students who were so friendly and made this trip so enjoyable. This was an incredibly educational. I'll also miss everyone I met in Oud Beijerland and I hope to keep communicating with them via email/ chat.

    Once again,

    - Hazel ;P
