Well, we're all back on the friendly again. Some of us made it in time for J'ouvert and the Grand Parade. Others came back during the frantic Queen's day celebrations. All in all I think we are happy to be home, and excited to host our new found friends in the coming weeks. I only hope that we can equal the reception we received by the students and host families. Sounds like a task we all are very eager to undertake. This blog will also be updated during the visit of the RSG'ers to St.Dominic so that we can all share our experiences together. To those who just came back: welcome back, and to those that have been here for a bit longer: Enjoy the last few days of vacation, as Monday we start school again! How was the flight? what were the conversations like on the plane? Did you manage to sleep at all? How will this experience change your perception of your own classmates and your own school? I look forward to hearing from you all.

Well, Home Sweet Home as some people say. I would have to say that some part of me did want to come back to St. Maarten for the family, friends, and just the feeling of being at home. I'm not so sure about looking forward to the school part (8-)), but I guess we don't have a choice now do we? I came back on Thursday April 30th with Hazel, Ms.Arlene, and Ms.Belzer. Everything went well with the check-in, but our flight got delayed for 1.5 hours! We ended up walking all around Schipol doing a little bit if shopping here and there. We finally went in the flight and sat down. In the beginning, I must admit, I might have been a bit boring because I was sleepy so I kept dozing off every few minutes (Sorry Hazel (A)), but after 2 or 3 hours, I was back! :D Hazel, Sarah (Ms.Belzer's daughter), and I ended up squishing ourselves to fit into 2 seats. We played different card games, and it was quite fun.
ReplyDeleteNow about the plane itself. KLM does not have personal TV's (:(), but they atleast had movies playing on this big TV in front. I got stuck with the seat that didn't have a proper audio system working, so I basically watched Mall Cop and Yes Man with no audio and Dutch subtitles (quite suckish don't you think?). I guess that improved my Dutch even more, but there still wasn't anything really bad about the flight. Another thing I can say about KLM is, it certainly knows how to stuff their passenegers! We got a main meal, a snack, an ice cream, soup and salad, with drinks almost every hour! It was very nice service, but some of the food was a bit hmmm...
Overall the whole trip was a humongous success and a humongous amount of fun and laughs and memories. I am really glad that everything went well.
Xoxo,

Yup we're home! I must say after a good 2 weeks of having fun at RSG and with my family I was happy to go back home. Who knew having fun was so tiring! Either way now we have to catch up to all the school work we missed while we were in Holland =(. I'm definitely not looking forward to that part.
ReplyDeleteAs you probably read by now I flew back on the 30th of April with Ekta, Miss Halley, Miss Belzer, and her daughter. I was bored at first! Because Ekta was sleeping the whole time. Naturally I woke her up every five minutes to ask for the time or just to annoy her. The last time I woke her up it was actually for a good reason. Since she was sitting by the aisle I wanted to pass to talk to Sarah (Miss Belzer's daughter) instead. But Sarah wanted to switch seats with Ekta which seemed like a good idea since Ekta was sleeping anyway. But we had a problem, Ekta didn't want to move!
So that's how we ended up squishing 3 people in 2 chairs and playing cards. I think I actually lost at all the games we played... but it was fun! I didn't like much of the food, I only ate potatoes, bread, n ice cream. I go annoyed because I wanted beef but I got the vegetarian meal instead because they were out of beef. This didn't bother Ekta at all though >_>. So Ekta's audio system wasn't working and I offered to let her use mine but she refused so I don't know what she's complaining about!
The flight the part of the flight where Ekta wasn't sleeping *cough* was pretty fun. Uncomfortable sitting, but fun ;P AND the plane didn't crash so that's a good thing...

the trip back to st. maarten was harassing because we had to be up at 3 am and arrive at the airport at 5 am. when we got there it was a mixture of lines and waiting. when i was in the plane i was finally releaved. the flight to Pasis was short but the rest in Paris' airport was crazy; when we missed the flight when we were coming it was not bad because there is a flight to Holland every hour, but a flight to st. maarten happens once every week so we HAD to be on time. the flight however was normal and then we finally hit st. maarten.
