Day 3: Posters and Games!

Spijkerpoepen? WHAT?! Well, if that word brought a smile to your face, you probably took part in the workshops today about typical Dutch games. Classroom 1 was divided into 5 stations where every group rotated through different types of games. Some required coordination and balance, while others required a bit of guts and bravery. I still have images of the Star squatting over the bottle trying to get the nail suspended by a belt around his waist into the glass bottle... that sight alone was priceless. They also judged the posters by the students of RSG. After the recess, the students went to lunch with some of the host students and teachers. What did everyone think of the games? Which one was your favorite? Which one proved to be the most difficult? What about the posters, which one did you like the best! Let's hear all about it!

  1. Now, I am completely sure I am the first to post! In your face, Lisa xP W00t! =D Today was an awesome day hosted by the RSG'ers who showed us some Dutch games that were played in the past, like the game hosted by Sean, where you'd have put your head in the tray filled with water, go in and get a candy, but Sean said it is usually played with a bucket of water, rather than a tray of water. We also got to judge some great posters made by some of the RSG'ers... to conclude, it was a great time, while it lasted, because we only got 1 period of time for it all. Till next time. Also, I am commenting from my DSi xD

  2. For once...FIRST TO COMMENT.....=D

    yess...Star is "King of Crapping"...HAHAHA!!
Atleast we know whose gonna be able to live on a deserted island with a carib beer bottle to crap in..=P

Those games were really fun...Especially watchin Javid TRYING to get the candy from the tray with water..xD

Those posters were pretty. They explained alot.

I think everyone enjoyed the games. i loved the candy the most though =D

  3. i don't think that spijkerpoepen is really my type of game. I didn't think it would be so hard to get the nail in the bottle. it was a very interesting day indeed.

  4. Congrats Rohan, first! =P

The Dutch games were really nice! It was really fun and funny, too! Watching people trying to get the nail into that bottle by squatting was hilarious! Then, students were also hula-hooping with those small hula hoops! And the posters were really nice and pretty! Everyone was creative and put in their own little style to it, which I really liked. The candy game was really fun, too. I might've done it about 3 times, but some people would race to see who could get their candy out of the tray the fastest. That was cool and funny to see them trying to push the other person's head out of the way. (=P) I lost to Sean, who is like Speedy Gonsalez! Nonetheless, that period was my favorite for the day, and I definitely had a lot of laughs and fun. =)

Can't wait to see the next day's presentation; they keep me waiting and interested EVERY time! =)

    Xoxo,

  7. All the games were fun...Getting a nail in a hole (bottle) is harder than I thought =(. And I have realized that I cannot hoola hoop, along with most of my class :). I think the game (forgot the name) but where we pitch/slide things along the board was really fun...and I enjoyed sticking my head in a bowl of water for candy :D

    Looking forward to the rest
    I always stay,

  11. The Dutch games that we played were awsome. The first one we did was the judging of the posters, the students did a good job and did a lot of hard work on posters. The information was also accurate. Then we did the one which we had to put our face in the water and get the candy. Some students got it. I got the candy. Then we had to tie a belt around our waist and a nail was tied to the belt and the put a potato on the spoon and walk a round, the nail is supposed to go in the bottle. I wasn't able to do it in time. Then we had hul Hoops. There was another dutch games in which you had to talk these things and slide it inot one of the holes, this one was cool. I am excitied to do the other activities. :D

  16. :|....You serious?? The 17th person?? Rohan you're just lucky I had string band..& dance class!!

Anyways back to what am originally here for...

The games were total fun! My favorite game was spijkerpoepen, I would have never guessed that some intellegent person made up such an unique game like this. I wonder what inspired the technique of the game. =P The other games were pretty fun too! For example the game where you throw the round thingys...I think the pucks or whatever, that game was cool, I got the highest score in my group (and 3x Jonathan's score, hahaha how yu feel!) The HulaHoops were a little too small, so we got creative and used other body parts other than our "middles". And the candy was zo lekkerrr!!!

The posters were very creative. After seeing some of the posters I considered myself 'creatively HandyCaped'. (By the way Rsg students you all passed with flying colors. Goed gedaan!)

Until the next blog this is Lisa saying,
    Peace Out!!

    Kusjes!!=)

at first i didnt want to dunk my head in the same water as others ..... but it turnes out to be really fun....
Only Star beat me at the ( put the needle in the bottle ) game.
But tht was really coll ... i played it three times....
the hockey looking game was very cool....my group wants to ask Ms.Alma for it... so we can play..... it was fun....but according to Sean we werent as good as they are back home (where they get like 60 points) but he then admitted that it was pretty good to get 22 points on your first try......
    tht was alot of funnnnnnnnn

  19. It probably doesn't make sense to say I'm late anymore... but I am!
So the games were really fun. Spijkerpoepen... that game always annoyed me. But I guess my experience helped because I was pretty good at it! xD I also really like joulen ... is that how you spell it? I don't know.
I was never very good at that hoola hoop stuff... I got 2 seconds. Pathetic I know... xD
I think getting the candy out of the water was really easy! Although I was so thankful there were towels! =D
    Awesome day!

  33. I had fun on umm "that" day. We got to play several games. The one that got my attention was the game where we had to try to land a screw in a Carib bottle =S Everyone I saw playing that game looked constipated.
The game where you had to dip your head in a tub of water and get the jelly was the BOMB

I caught several of them but got my whole shirt wet too much.
Tried begging Naomi to give one cola jelly to me without playing the game but she always refused.
    Well had a fun time.
