Wow!
I knew the kids were excited for our guests to arrive, but I've been nothing less than overwhelmed with the outpouring of hospitality by our students towards our guests. You guys did a great job thus far! From the pre-partying at the airport for their arrival, to a weekend full of impromptu activities, you guys are really being ambassadors for our school and by extension: our island.
It was also great to see so many of you post on the blog, and as you may have noticed, the parents of the RSG'ers are also very happy that you are doing so! You are able to give them a window from Holland to St. Maarten, so keep it up!
I saw Naomi and Sean with their hosts on the boardwalk watching the Capoeira performance; (the teachers also came by!), and I heard that Walter showed how good he was at Basketball at Angelo's place. Later I saw a whole herd of students with Walter at the Cinema, and with the sun coming out today, most likely some of them will hit the beach.
So let us know what you've been doing this weekend. Did you try a johnny cake yet? or gone to see the planes landing by the beach? Have you jumped into the ocean yet? or collected shells? Gone to a "house" party yet? I am looking forward to hearing from all of you! so ....BLOG AWAY!

What a Great time!
ReplyDeleteSo far i have enjoyed myself. I met naomi, sean and walter at the airport and they were very friendly yet very tired. We introuduced ourselves, as for me i was very happy because i got to meet a very dear friend that i talked to for months but never met.
On the friday when i went to watch capoeira with lisa.I was very happy to see Naomi and Sean watching capoeria and they enthusiastic with their preformances on the boardwalk.
On saturday, Hazel, Anothny, Ekta, Naomi and I made plans to go to town. We played some hand games, drank bubble tea, ate ice cream and got to know eachother better and have fun. we also took some pictures. Later that day we went to watch soccer where we met walter, jordan, sean, hasib, niel and others. We watched a bit of soccer then we went home.
So far it has been a Great Time!!
Well, on Friday I went to Hazel's house to meet Naomi as they live in my neighborhood, but they weren't home. I didn't meet anyone of the RSG-ers until Saturday. Around 1, I met Hazel, Anthony, & Naomi in Town. We walked around and showed Naomi Frontstreet and Backstreet. She also wanted to pick up a few souvenirs so we took her to a souvenir shop. We could not forget Bubble Tea, so we made her try some of it, and she loved it!
ReplyDeleteThen, we went to the Boardwalk and she took lots of pictures of the beach and pier and sunset. We went to the arcade and played Air Hockey! (Me and Naomi were the champs! =)) Then, we met Nakirta and Star who were with their family or friends. Melissa caught up with us and we all sat down at the pier and just 'chilled'. We were talking and laughing, playing games, and just getting to know each other better. We picked up a little refreshment at McDonald's and went to the soccer game. Unfortunately, we missed Sean, Walter, and the teachers by a few minutes. We still showed Naomi the soccer field and Raoul Illidge Sports Complex. We met Akilah, Jewel, Lloyd, & Lisa there as well, so it was quite fun.
I look forward to the other activites we have planned! =)
Xoxo,
-Ekta ;)

I was very excited when the students from holland arrived on St. Maarten. We had to wait long at the airport but it was worth waiting. We are having fun with Sean and Walter on the weekends. we carried them to the beach and they had a good time, so did we.

The first weekend Naomi was stayed at my house. Saturday we went to town quite early. We first went to the library because unfortunately even with all the activities for the awesome KANS project...! We still have school...projects...homework...the works. Therefore I had to be in the library for my English student teacher assignment. Well Naomi chatted with her friends in Holland while I was discussing my oh so fun english assignment with Shanica. Well Naomi did get to meet Shanica, that was a good thing. Afterwards we showed Naomi all around town. Well you already know everything we did from Ekta's post xD We even went to bubble tea. Later Melissa also came to town. We were in town since 11 AM. When we got home I think Naomi and I were both pretty tired.
ReplyDeleteSunday we went to the beach! Naomi was on the French side for the first time that day. I usually never go to the beach. But I really had fun Sunday! We talked about the differences between St Maarten and Holland. For example: here the weather is great almost every day. But Naomi told us that even if there's just a little bit of sun in Holland EVERYONE rushes to the beach. At the beach I took a lot of pictures of Naomi at several different trees xD I got requests like having to include the leaves of the trees in the pictures and stuff like that xD I had a lot of fun though. It actually rained that morning but fortunately it didn't rain again after we left home. Sunday evening we went to Grand Case, we ate there. I just took chicken but Naomi ate lobster which I helped her take apart cause those things are hard to eat! xD She took some pictures there too.
- Hazel ;P
Thats nice. I hope they really had a great time on the boardwalk....and playing basketball. I couldn't wait to see them on Monday.
ReplyDeleteI know Walter had a heck of a weekend on St.Maarten. Neil, Walter, me and some other people went to the movies. Car Pooling is the worst idea believe me =.= . Went to the movies and met Mr. T he spoilt the whole ending of the movie (Haunting in Connecticut) Just for your own personal knowledge .. No one dies.. :P
ReplyDeleteOk well after movies ... We went home.
Sunday went beach (Divi) with a group of people and including Sean and Jordan. You would expect a person from Europe most of the time taking a tan but you didn't see those two taking a tan. They were busy exploring "Our Beaches." Walter infact caught something out of the water. A lobster, he infact had no idea what he was holding. He threw it away thinking it was garbage. Later we convinced to get it out. The rest of the guys were scared they peed in the water I am guessing =S.. I dont know actually, all i felt was a warm spot and then ran out of the ater. Well, Walter caught a half lobster. And then took some pictures. Then a crazy fisherman comes and starts talking to us about using a dead lobster as bait. Well, nearly all of us didn't care.. Except the cheap ones that wanted to eat lobster tonight. (Hint: 2 former- Fat kid- Smart- N guess what? - Cheap)
Well i could go on about what we did all day but I could tell you tha Walter n Sean enjoyed the beach that day.
